What I'd add is that the moral aspects in <I>Doctor Who</I>, <I>Stardust</I> or even <I>Harry Potter</I> are pleasant and acceptable because they aren't (totally) simplistic. Take the Doctor -- he has a clear moral compass, but his actions often can't help bring destruction to innocents close to his path. Sometimes he backtracks on his choices -- and sometimes people are dying because his initial actions. And emotionally, he is ever so slightly an alien, wired differently and ultimately unable to fit fully into human psychology. (It's also one of the reasons <I>Torchwood</I> is such a mess: it's not nearly got a moral substructure as well-constructed as DW.) <BR/><BR/>(I'm not so sure about that <I>Dangerous Book for Boys</I>, even though I haven't read it, because for all its merit it seems to reinforce gender stereotypes in an unfortunate manner.
